Ghidaq al-Nizar’s Coffee Art

Indonesian artist Ghidaq al-Nizar, known on Instagram as @coffeetopia, uses his leftover coffee to create detailed artworks on dried leaves.

Using a fine paint brush, he applies layers of black coffee to form sepia-toned scenes. He decided to use coffee instead of paint, as he wanted to feel a connection to his morning drink of choice and the ritual surrounding the beverage. He tags his work with #zerowastecoffee, as he tries to use only what’s left in his cup.

Ghidaq doesn’t limit his canvas to leaves; he also paints on a variety of other surfaces, as seen in the gallery above.
