Juxtaposing organic shapes with hard angles, the line offers a variety of bold and subdued palettes as well as an option to have an organic shape on the interior or exterior of the frame.

Portuguese joinery Wewood has created a new collection of mirrors inspired by the shape of both the crescent and full moon.

The Luna Mirrors are handcrafted using traditional Portuguese joinery techniques and are designed to work together as a series.

Designer Eleonora Fedi planned it as such that by rotating the wooden frames of the mirrors, different combinations and shapes can be made to create an ever-changing feature wall.

No two mirrors are ever identical and the mirrors are available in natural oak and natural walnut.

Joburg-based designers Wendy Dixon and Jennifer Bradley of product design and conceptual art studio Stay Evil Kids Studio are exploring the duality within each of us through their debut design range, Dirty Mirrors.

Dirty Mirrors is a range of double-sided mirrors crafted out of a unique combination of solid timber and glass, available in diamond or sphere shapes. Tinted mirror gradients in hues of grey, bronze and silver are backed by painted glass in various spot colours and digitally printed sunset gradients in ceramic ink. Each combination of wood, shape, mirror and glass makes for a totally unique design, every time.

These mirrors are not intended to merely reflect your image, but to rather capture it along with your personality. A mirrored image on one side and art on the other, these freestanding mirrors are functional art pieces that lure you to stop and stare for a little longer than usual.

British furniture brand Timothy Oulton has created a glamorous lighting collection, as part of its Hosted Living concept, that’s exclusively available from Weylandts.

The new collection has been designed for people who love to entertain and includes the Night Rod Pendant, in small and large, and the Inception Round Mirror. The Night Rod pendant was designed by Timothy Oulton in collaboration with furniture designer Wayne Chiu.

“The design concept for Night Rod was to come up with an innovative form using crystal; a traditional material that has been played with over and over in the past. Night Rod uses K9 glass, lighter and clearer than crystal, and reinvents it in a modern way,” Wayne explains. “We started with the idea of a kaleidoscope, and considered what it would look like from the outside if the multiple reflections [were] flipped inside out.”

The Inception Round Mirror was inspired by infinity mirrors from the 1970s. Once lit, it reveals a seemingly endless line of reflections that appear smaller and smaller as they fade into the distance. When turned off, the mirror has a refined and elegant presence, but turned on it’s as though a portal has been opened, leading you and your guests into another dimension.

Each mirror from local decor brand Isabelina’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection has been individually designed and handcrafted. 

The new collection, which is made up of six mirrors, includes classic round shapes and mirrors edged with delicate gold and stainless steel, as well as vintage-inspired panelled options.

The bevelled Vista Mirror, which would suit both a traditional or contemporary decor scheme, has been created with Art Deco as an inspiration. The pared down Round Sullivan Mirror can be ordered in a brass or stainless steel frame, while the intricate Multi Bevelled Mirror is framed with varying concentric rectangular borders.

The gold-framed Whisper Mirror is a reinvention of the classic oval mirror and is available in black and silver, while the Venetian Mirror has been embellished with intricately cut fleur-de-lis motifs.

Isabelina also offers the option of customising the size of the mirror to suit your space.

“I started the mirror range because I found a huge need for them in my interior design projects and I couldn’t find anything like them in any decor shops,” says Kelly. “Every single project I’ve ever done has needed a mirror, so it was an opportunity to create the exact thing I was looking for.”

The mirrors, which are available in five separate styles, namely Art Deco, Sunburst, Geometric, Grecian, and Simple, make use of metallic detailing, something which Kelly loves to decorate with. The mirrors are available an array of finishes, including bright brass, antique brass, satin copper, bright copper, matte black and matte white.

Speaking about the process, Kelly says, “I’ve enjoyed it so much that I think it will be the first collection of many. Next up – bespoke ottomans!”
