United by the belief that design begins with connection, Weylandts, StudioLandt and The Mill channel Namibia’s sociable weavers’ nests into regenerative, small-scale works in reclaimed wool.

Weylandts, StudioLandt, and The Mill are united by a shared belief that true design begins with connection. Each brand embodies a distinct expression of this ethos. Together, forming a bond where authenticity, heritage, and purpose converge.

StudioLandt

On their trip to The Mill in Namibia, Weylandts and StudioLandt became enamoured with the sociable weaver’s nests. Patiently woven from grasses and twigs, built layer by layer to shelter entire colonies, these nests are suspended in trees and shaped by both instinct and environment.

StudioLandt

Their weathered surfaces, sun-bleached hues, and tactile density offered a quiet study in function, resilience, and collective making. Rooted in a place shaped by time, weather, and lineage, these works mirror the textures and tonalities of the land that continues to inform the Weylandts’ and StudioLandt design philosophy.

StudioLandt

Through twists, knots, and looms that map material, texture, and structure across land and lineage. Formed from reclaimed wool, these works are regenerative, sustainable, and small-scale, honouring both resourcefulness and the terrain that inspired them.

StudioLandt

StudioLandt travelled to Namibia to learn directly from the artisans, researching the shapes, piles, and patterns that would best translate the desert’s textures into their designs. Each contour and loop acts as a woven pathway, a landscape rendered through the hands of its makers and the careful study that shaped it.

Horizon, the latest outdoor collection by Weylandts, with its smoke-finished teak, woven-rope detailing and sculpted curves, speaks of landscapes and time, inviting outdoor living that is generous, adaptable and enduring.

Founded in contrast, the materials and textures in the latest Weylandts Outdoor Collection are a metaphor for harmony and balance. Through this opposition, beauty is created. The tension of the sun disappearing behind the horizon line, the jagged mountain’s edge that frames a valley, the refreshing dusk air that cools the soil after a sweltering day – that is where beauty rests.

Chris and Anna Weylandt share a heritage of design and a passion for connection. Designing each piece with long-standing suppliers as they travel through vast lands, their creative process is about more than the beauty of the pieces they create, it is about the relationships they build and the intimate knowledge they have of each material, texture, and meaning. A unique place where raw forms collide with bold designs, Weylandts is an alchemy of global ideas and local roots.

Smoke finishes on hand-selected pieces of teak, rich in oil and confident in grain, mimic the mountain curves through rigid frames. These elemental pieces are designed by Weylandts to age with the land – weathering and wearing to show the markings of their journeys.

This season also introduces new modular sofa ranges – the Paloma and Havana – designed for both outdoors and in. Generously proportioned and deeply inviting, these pieces embody the collection’s spirit of natural ease and adaptability.

Woven rope details evoke unreplicable patterns of veining leaves and indigenous thicket. Crafted to withstand and hold, these pieces carry the stories of their craft in between intertwined strands.

Complementing these ranges are their new loungers, sculpted in shape and scale, designed for languid afternoons and sun-drenched pauses. Their proportions and gentle curves echo the undulating lines of the horizon itself – relaxed, grounded, and timeless.

“I’ve seen many horizons in my life. From Indonesia to Namibia, they inspire me to think bigger. That’s how I wanted this collection to feel. Like a beautiful moment in time.” – Chris Weylandt.

As daylight breaks over pillared mountains, the markings of the earth are revealed through the new Delta range.

Erosion lines, chiselled barks, hills of sand and soil converge to showcase the passing of time. Chris and Anna Weylandt designed the Delta range as an earthly representation of this evolution that occurs over centuries. Through carvings that mimic latitude lines and rich amber hues that echo resilient soils, these pieces have been formed through adversity to give way to something extraordinary.

After months of research and development, the uniquely carved pattern of the Zela range, a feature in the Delta Collection was perfected by the Weylandts team at their Cape Town factory. What started as a moment of inspiration using a recycled piece of oak, turned into an entire collection.

The signature markings are carved using waste-conscious machinery to ensure their sustainability mission is upheld and every part of the wood is used. With a respect for materiality and an appreciation for craft, each piece of oak is hand-sanded and finished with a rich Amber Oil. A process of passion and intention, their craft showcases the Weylandts ethos at every stage of this collection’s journey.

Weylandts‘ striking new collaboration with award-winning designer Thebe Magugu is the result of months’ worth of ideating, designing, and crafting, and marks a bold step for both brands.

The centrepiece of their latest collaboration is a bespoke Sofa and Duffel Bag. The sofa seamlessly blends Magugu’s unique aesthetic with Weylandts’ vision of bold, authentic design. The fabric draws inspiration from fashion designer’s heritage and history, taking cues from the unique patterns of the Basotho blanket. Featuring a locally woven jacquard in Cape Town, the corn motifs and twin stitching seen throughout are a subtle nod to the fruitfulness and fertility that collaboration can bring.

Thebe Magugu’s first physical showroom, Magugu House, with its expansive grounds and 1931 residence, served as a perfect canvas to unveil the fruits of the collaboration. Weylandtstudio played a crucial part in curating and contributing to the cohesive design of the atelier when it opened its doors in 2024.

Weylandts x Thebe Magugu Collab

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Thebe Magugu, whose work truly embodies our commitment to design and craftsmanship,” said Anna Weylandt of Weylandts. “Furnishing Magugu House has allowed us to integrate our exceptional pieces into a space that celebrates African heritage and contemporary design. This collaboration underscores our dedication to creating emotive, meaningful living spaces.” Magugu House has served as a canvas to showcase this unique partnership, with plans to extend the collaboration across various projects throughout the year. weylandts.co.za | thebemagugu.com

A Philosophy of Evolution

At Weylandts, evolution is one of their key philosophies. The evolution of ideas, the development of products until they are perfect, and the natural progressions of organic processes – these are the forces that drive their designs.

The Journey of Creation

The Eclipse Sofa is more than just a piece of furniture; it is a culmination of generations of passion. A result of over 60 years of knowledge, expertise, and relentless obsession, this sofa reflects a detailed timeline of improvement.

A Testament to Timeless Design

“What I love is the evolution of a product that stands the test of time. When we bring change, it’s never for the sake of change. It’s got to be for the better. Everything is considered when we’re in the process of improving an existing product. But the fundamentals of how we created it is the same as it was 20 years ago.” – Chris Weylandt
