The VISI Great Spaces tour of Amatuli Artefacts, in association with Saint-Gobain, on Saturday 12 December 2015 was one of VISI Deputy Editor Annemarie Meintjes’ highlights of the year.

A collection of interesting people, who we’re privileged to call VISI readers, gathered together to listen to Amatuli owner Mark Valentine’s enchanting stories, bringing the eclectic spaces in the building to life. After an extensive tour of the building – including visits to the Amatuli shop, Sir James van der Merwe Bar, Katy’s Palace Bar, and Mark’s personal loft apartment – the tour group made their way back to the Milk Bar café where they tucked into Fable Food’s delectable chocolate cakes, sipped on Graham Beck bubbly and got to leave with the latest issue of VISI.

It was a great way to sign off a year of visits to fabulous VISI Spaces!

On an unseasonably hot August day in Krugersdorp, VISI readers tucked into chilled Graham Beck Brut and delicious chocolate cake as they joined us, in association with Saint-Gobain, at Nirox Sculpture Park for a tour of the POD-iDLADLA, a pre-fabricated home designed for efficient and cost-effective living.

Deputy editor Annemarie Meintjes was joined by architect Clara da Cruz Almeida from Collaborate000 to discuss the motivation behind the POD project – also revealing – for the first time – the pricing of the various POD options available.

A key drive for Clara is collaboration, and for this project, she decided to team up with the talented Katy Taplin and Adriaan Hugo of Dokter and Misses. Both were at the tour to talk readers through the detailing of the POD’s interiors and the unique functionalities required for built-in furniture in a small space.

Readers left with the latest issue of VISI, a bottle of Graham Beck Brut and the inspiration to think big about small spaces!
