After 60 years, Strachan & Myburgh’s iconic headwear has its feet firmly rooted in South African pop culture.

In the 1960s, Strachan and Myburgh set up shop in Johannesburg, and the retailers went on to create a range of Scottish-style beanies and other headwear. And although their hats were originally geared to simply offer wearers protection from the elements, Strachan & Myburgh has become a heavyweight streetwear brand over the years. Apart from the brand’s established popularity, it boasts a cultural significance spanning six decades, and counting.

The iconic beanie is made from 100% wool – you can spot the trademark knit anywhere from Cape Town to Johannesburg. It’s often nicknamed either a ‘Strachan’ or a ‘Myburgh’ depending on who you ask. Today, the legacy brand continues to thrive in a timeless manner – unaffected by seasons or trends – while maintaining its reputation for enduring quality.

Shop Strachan & Myburgh online at Orkini, or in store at Studio 88 and Skipper Bar.
