Outdated? Never! Delft boasts a new look, and traditional windmills have been replaced by kudus, butterflies and birds. These motives are now finding their way onto all kinds of stylish ceramics, lamps and cushions. Says Marian van Wyk: “Designers worldwide have turned Delft on its head. Local ceramicists have found amazing new ways to use the blue-and white-design: Tanya Laing (sootcookie.co.za), Anna-Carien Goosen (salt-afrodelft.co.za), Rebecca Townsend (things-precious.blogspot.com), Lisa Firer (lisafirer.co.za) and Liesel Trautman (lieseltrautman.co.za), to name a few. This timeless colour scheme looks modern when a splash of faded colour is added.”
