Nando’s celebrates the launch of two brand new PERi-PERi Bag & Bake Flavours with a bright and cheerful #PERiTricks pop-up in the heart of Jozi’s Braamfontein.

The Afro-Portuguese brand has added two exciting flavours to its do-it-at-homes repertoire – Paprika Citrino and Smokey Churrasco. These bags allow customers to add a Nando’s zing to their home-cooked meals.

These spicy flavours inspired a selection of #PERiTricks recipes that reinvent some of South Africa’s favourite foods and ingredients.

Customers will get to discover these recipe tricks between 24 June and 10 July 2022 at a quirky and vibrant pop-up in Braamfontein. Think super fun recipes made in a tumble dryer, air fryer or even with an iron.

Pairing with a local design studio, Studio H, the team celebrate local creativity and smart thinking, adding a plethora of local creatives to the concept, from cinematography art and design to the culinary arts.

At our pop-up, they’ll be able to engage with our brand in an interactive and fun way and gain greater insight into the creativity and innovation that drives our brand,” says Vanessa Nunes, the Marketing Manager for Groceries at Nando’s.

Brought to life by Stretch Architects, the playful space brings an edge of afro-futurism and clever out-of-the-box thinking to the forefront.

While customers are welcome to just pop into the pop-up, it is advised that they book and guarantee their spots at nandos.co.za/popup.

Faced with no longer being able to hold its popular artisan market, KAMERS/Makers has had to adapt to the current conditions, opening new pop-up retail spaces filled with locally made goods.

Faced with the choice to either close its doors and negatively impact hundreds of SME artisans or to innovate and reimagine its platform entirely, the KAMERS/Makers team has chosen to open a series of KAMERS/Makers SPACEs across the country.

The first KAMERS/Makers SPACE, launched in Stellenbosch on 22 June and running until 29 August, stocks products created by 70+ Makers, with new products and Makers featured every second week. The second KAMERS/Makers SPACE will open on Monday 27 July next to Exclusive Books at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town and a Johannesburg SPACE is in the final planning stages.

The SPACEs are COVID-19 screened and certified and offer a cashless system with a single central pay-point, while the KAMERS/Makers online store allows buyers to order any of the 9000+ products 24/7 for collection or delivery.

Keep an eye on @kamersvol on Facebook and Instagram to see when and where the next SPACE will pop up. To shop online, visit shop.kamersvol.com.

Playing with themes of darkness, luminosity, contrast and humour, CRÉMA is thrilled to announce the launch of an immersive pop-up design experience.

While Thursday 7 March 2019 will see the official launch of CRÉMA’s pop-up display at 99 Juta Street in Braamfontein, it will run from Monday to Saturday between 9 am and 5 pm through the months of February and March 2019.

For CRÉMA, this will be an opportunity to showcase yet unseen lighting designs by acclaimed British designer Tom Dixon, whose current love affair with black is both rigorous and timeless.

This collection of black design pieces, from lacquered and glossy to honed and perforated, will draw viewers out of the light and into the shadows.

The curated line-up will include Tom Dixon Melt and Cut pendants, Copper Shades in a new black finish, and Boom and Bell table lamps.

Visitors can expect a dark and dramatic, minimalist Art Deco-style installation with a modern, Eastern aesthetic presented against a backdrop of graphic, marble-like monochromatic wallpaper and a showstopper architectural staircase.

Apart from evocative lighting displays, there will also be a curated exhibit of other desirable lighting and furniture pieces inspired by Dixon’s insatiable passion for black. These will be pulled from a number of leading brands within the CRÉMA stable, including Muuto, Diesel, &Tradition, Lee Broom, HAY, Gubi and FLOS.

For more information, visit crema.co.za.

The Cape Town Fynbos Pop-up Hotel for two, situated on Buitengracht Street, offers you an opportunity to “sleep on nature” and experience the best of the Cape’s botanical heritage.

A joint venture between the Cape Town Fynbos Experience and Coco-Mat Cape Town, the one-room hotel is an immersive experience into the Cape’s famed vegetation.

The bed is hand-crafted using 100% natural materials, including a base made from Eucalyptus slats. The mattress is made up of layers of coconut fibre to regulate humidity and seaweed to help with breathing, thanks to the slow release of iodine.

Visitors will also experience unique, water-wise bathing, given the water shortage in the city, as well as an hour of fynbos tasting at the historic Company’s Garden before you check-in.

A night at the Cape Town Fynbos Pop-up Hotel, located on the top floor at 214 Buitengracht Street, costs R5 500 for two people sharing per night.

For more information and to book, visit Cape Town Fynbos Hotel on Facebook or go to capetownfynbosexperience.com.

This tiny 12m2 pop-up hotel in Wales, known as Arthur’s Cave, is inspired by the natural surrounding landscape.

Completed in May 2017 by London-based Miller Kendrick Architects, the cabin, which took four weeks to build, made use of modern construction techniques and predominately locally sourced materials.

“The structure is a combination of CNC-cut birch plywood ribs and sheathing panels, which act together to form a composite structure,” explain the architects on their website. The interiors are made entirely from plywood, including the sink and the bath, while the exteriors are clad in black-stained larch boards. Heated by a log burner, the cabin has both hot and cold running water, a self-composting toilet and solar-powered LED lighting.

The Welsh Government’s Tourism Product Innovation Fund backed the project, after the pop-up was named as one of eight Epic Retreats winners.

This space, which is dedicated to hosting pop-up installations, is adjacent to the Amastan Hotel and is the first flagship store from the new urban hotel brand, having opened in July this year. London architects Jonas Prišmontas and Tomaso Boano have designed Minima Moralia, a modular, customisable pop-up space.

The small, cellular construction is aimed at creatives such as painters, designers, musicians, architects and sculptors looking for an interactive working studio space.

The concept is aimed at both communal and solo use with the idea that small communities of pop-up studios will form in both public and private areas. This will bring together like-minded individuals to share a creative space in the city, where rent is expensive and places are densely populated.

The shell of the Minima Moralia is constructed from modular steel with windows as walls and a folding canopy for an indoor-outdoor effect. There is also the opportunity to customise the space with shelves, desks and lights.
