This theme is a reaction against cold and simple minimalism, focusing on contrasting bold and primary colours and geometric shapes and lines. Connect uses abstract juxtaposition and colour as its main point of reference to evoke feelings of playfulness, experimentation and optimism. Using vivid colours and strong shapes inspired by the Memphis art movement, Connect brings mod to the forefront in this forecast.

We’ve already featured “Element” and “Discovery,” now it’s time for “Heirloom,” the third instalment in Plascon’s 2016 Colour Forecast. Heirloom draws inspiration from history and decadent luxury.

Influenced by a feeling of nostalgia, rich colours and luxurious textures, Heirloom uses the past as its main point of reference to evoke feelings of familiarity and comfort. The concept behind this theme is to give these past motifs a contemporary twist, using deep and sensuous palettes in imaginative ways, aged surfaces and textural treatments.

Plascon has released the Colour Forecast for 2016, with four sections to suit a variety of spaces. First up is “Element”, a design story inspired by nature and the planet.

This theme is influenced by earthy textures and tones, with a palette of subdued neutrals, distressed finishes and rough and smooth contrasts. The idea behind the overall look is to create a sense of calm and tranquility.
