From 21 to 23 April 2016, the new Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town plays host to the annual Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival.

Only in its third year, it has received acclaim as a leading festival of its kind. Submissions are received from all over the globe, competing for the opportunity to show their work, as well as the $10 000 prize money. 

The festival’s 2016 programme includes daytime talks from a variety of local and international experts including Catherine Scorey, womenswear director at Ted Baker, as well as Jordan Rossi of Hunger Magazine. Dr Shaun Borstrock, Associate Dean and Head of the Digital Hack Lab at the University of Hertfordshire and Prof. Mark Bloomfield, Managing Director of Electrobloom will also present their range of 3D-printed garments and jewellery.

The Cape Town Fashion Council (CTFC) will be presenting the Top Young Designers Fashion Film Award, for which they have paired 10 up-and-coming local fashion designers with young filmmakers. “It’s been only a few years that fashion brands could afford to produce their own films,” says CTFC CEO, Bryan Ramkilawan. “To stimulate this and increase local fashion film content, the CTFC are again proud to participate while this year also sponsoring an exciting new talent fashion film competition. Mentoring these young minds will encourage the growth of the Bokeh brand moving forward. Bokeh is more than fashion, it is art.” 

The  festival’s VIP guests will also get to attend two glittering red carpet events, on opening night on the 22^nd, as well as at the awards ceremony on Saturday the 23^rd.

The annual That Art Fair is running at The Palms Decor and Lifestyle Centre in Woodstock, Cape Town from Thursday 18 February to Sunday 6 March 2016.

That Art Fair describe themselves as “ an affordable art fair event providing a platform for African artists who work under the radar of the traditional art establishment and who do things a little differently.”

That Art Fair features artists from across Africa and aims to create a network between buyers and sellers, with the event standing as a platform to promote interaction between artists and visitors.

Film screenings, in collaboration with Shnit Short Film Festival and Sunshine Cinema, will be held weekly in the evenings from 22 February until 27 February 2016.

Some of the top highlights for this year’s That Art Fair include:

17 February: The VIP opening event with the official opening of That Art Bar, designed by Laura Windvogel.
