Furniture and homeware store @home has added a new range of hand-crafted ceramics by South African brand Prêt-à-Pot to its offering.

The locally produced pieces, which have been designed by the 34-year-old brand exclusively for @home, are made from three different types of locally sourced clay. Each piece is crafted by at least six artisans before it is ready for firing in the kiln.

The range, which is created with the African landscape in mind, includes salt pots, planters, vases and candle jars, all of which are available online and in store.

Pretoria-based industrial lifestyle company, LuMen, started out in 2014 when two friends, DuToit Wilken and Nicholas Delport started sharing designs they thought were “cool” ideas for lights. From there they thought, “Let’s see if we can make them”. Fast forward to 2015 and the business has grown into a team of five.

“We are constantly developing and experimenting with new ideas,” says Jenne-Lee Delport, LuMen’s PR director. “We aim to grow our business to its full potential and flood the South African market with our beautiful lights and home accessories.”

Their collection, which makes use of industrial pipes, includes galvanised lights and copper home accessories like hanging rails, book hammocks and candleholders.
