Coffee lovers have more than their fair share of dedicated spots around the Mother City. Now Lady Bonin’s Tea Bar is ensuring that tea addicts get their fix too with a new bar on Long Street.

Run by tea enthusiast Jessica Bonin, the tea bar offers speciality teas, tastings and traditional ceremonies and pairings. What began as a humble store travelling between festivals has transformed into a permanent space, beautiful and bohemian, and offering over 50 local and international teas.

You’re welcome to enjoy a cuppa in the store itself, get a take away or buy your favourite blend to brew at home.

Lady Bonin’s Tea Bar is open from 8am until 4pm from Monday to Friday and 9am until 2pm on Saturdays. It is situated at 213 Long Street, Cape Town.

A new collection by English hand-printed wallpaper manufacturer, Cole & Son, has brought the private bohemian clubs of the 18th and early 19th centuries back to life.

The sumptuous collection of damask prints is inspired by the Romantic period and will be launched at Maison et Objet in Paris this month. Named after the bohemian clubs of the time, Albemarle consists of nine designs that reference a cultural icon or gem of the poetic era.

‘‘We selected a series of traditional damask prints from our vast archive, adapting the designs and colours and experimenting with different printing techniques to create a modern feel,” says Cole & Son Managing Director Simon Glendenning. “The result is an elegant collection ideal for both heritage and contemporary settings; the creativity of Albemarle pays homage to the rich artistic period from which it is inspired.’’

VISI’s top design is Piccadilly, a humorous take on the “blue and white” tile, which creates a striking pattern of intricately decorated tiles in traditional turquoises, blues, yellows and blacks.

The collection is available locally at St Leger & Viney.
