The first flagship of the new urban hotel brand, Amastan Paris, offers a younger and livelier boutique hotel experience in one of the most distinguished and cultured neighbourhoods in the city.

Opened in July 2016 under Zied Sanhaji and designed by Paris-based design and interior architecture studio NOCC, Amastan Paris offers a curated home for the cultured traveller. Situated in a quiet street in the heart of the elegant eighth arrondissement, the twenty-four guest rooms reimagine the codes of boutique hospitality in Paris.

The interior architecture is inspired by classic Parisian apartment style, yet encompasses a quietly eclectic and comfortably understated elegance that emanates the ambience of a globally roaming collector’s personal home. The entrance on the ground floor is framed by a specially conceived architectural light scheme and features striking petrol-blue herringbone parquet flooring that makes a playful appearance on the walls, as well as a specially commissioned tapestry by designer Jan Kath.

A double-storey library wall and an ombre, marble high-table make for an intimate, warm and vibrant atmosphere. The cosy rooms allocated over six floors also feature the signature blue parquet, which provides a subtle contrast to an otherwise elegantly pared-down aesthetic featuring bespoke furniture and juxtaposing textures like lacquered oak, ash, copper and brass.

The hotel’s bar, Anouk, offers a one-of-a-kind landscape setting where guests can enjoy cocktails, rare spirits and an array of light, healthy meals outdoors. The elaborate garden features a striking rock formation that creates a natural seating area amidst thirty different species of flora and fauna.

Amastan Paris also has a Pop-In store dedicated to showcasing fashion and art from around the globe, which is collaborating with South Africa’s Merchants On Long until 6 October 2016. Read more about the collab here.

Amastan Paris‘s latest partnership for its “Pop-In” store is called Merchants Aime Paris, and is run in collaboration with SA’s own Merchants on Long, bringing shoppers an exclusive pop-up installation showcasing the best in contemporary African art and design.

This space, which is dedicated to hosting pop-up installations, is adjacent to the Amastan Hotel and is the first flagship store from the new urban hotel brand, having opened in July this year. The collaborative installation Merchants Aime Paris launches on 2 September 2016 in Paris’s luxurious eighth arrondissement. It serves as a blank canvas and platform for artistic expression for artists and designers from around the globe. The brand philosophy focuses on curation and collaboration with artists that portray an eclectic set of talents with a focus on art, fashion, food, architecture and design.

The 20 square metre Pop-In store features art exhibitions, screenings, installations, window displays, launches and showrooms. Merchants Aime Paris will be a continuation of the successful Merchants pop-ups, transforming Amastan into a hub of African design, by hosting an array of events, talks and interesting performances.

Founder of Merchants on Long, Hanneli Rupert, will curate and showcase ethically sourced and produced designs from Africa, aiming to bring the best of what Africa has to offer to Paris for the duration of Merchants Aime Paris.

Hanneli will be showcasing her luxury handbag brand Okapi alongside work from designers including Frazer Parfum, Halsted, MaXhosa by Laduma, Laurence Airline, Henriette Botha and more. The pop-up installation runs until 6 October 2016.
